Sarah Palin is in Canton today. She’s speaking at McKinley high school. We got tickets to see her but decided at the last minute not to go. I’m so incredibly sick of politics, smear campaigns, empty promises and rhetoric that goes no where. I don’t think I could bear a pep rally for Republicans on top of it.
I’m not sure how I feel about Sarah Palin. She seems to polarize most with little to no middle ground on her. You love her or hate her. I can’t imagine what its like for her family right now going through an unplanned teen pregnancy while running for the highest political office.
We have a friend that went and she said it was amazing. That Sarah was poised, polished, and compelling. Maybe I should have gone, would have been interesting to judge her for myself first hand. I got the chance to do that with Hilary Clinton and confirmed my suspicions about her.
I’ll have to check you tube and see what comes up.

“As Ohio votes so goes the nation.”
That’s almost the state motto every four years. Ohio was the crucial state win for Bush in 2004. In fact we have voted with the winner of every election since 1948. We are officially a purple state – neither blue nor red.
That is some serious history. In CA if you don’t vote democrat you are pretty much throwing your vote away. I had a pretty ambivalent attitude about voting until a friend reminded me of this today. My vote actually matters in Ohio. I should have recognized this since we get about 18 political telemarketer calls a day and every other commerical on tv is some smear political ad. It gets old really fast.
But I have done my duty and transferred my voter registration. It was a scary, scary process here in Ohio. We are ripe for voter fraud! I was never once asked for identification of any sort. I’m convinced dead people will be voting this year.
Now I will be forced to wade through the piles of political crap to figure out what I believe and vote to the best of my ability. UGH. I am not a political person. I am so apothetic. I should be more savvy, but I’m not. I generally avoid it. I should care, but generally I believe that we don’t live in a democracy and money speaks more than votes. So maybe, just maybe this time it does count. We’ll see.

The old man and the girl. McCain chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate. A soccer mom turned politician with a 4 mo. old baby with down syndrome. She seems more human than most in Washington. Her inexperience matches Obama’s, though she appears to have a harder hitting record than he does on some issues. It will be interesting to learn more about her as we lead up to the Republican National Convention.
I think its a good move for McCain. He needs a new voice. He needs to be able to compete with Obama’s fresh approach. McCain needs to breathe new life into his party, make it seem like its not the status quo. He needed a bold choice and I think Palin is it. You know he’s going after the Clinton following unsure of Obama.
It will be interesting to see what happens. I was convinced that I was going to vote for Obama after I heard him speak in 2007. However, I am growing increasingly wary of him, as I am of most politicians. There is just something about him that rings too slick or false for me. Not sure what it is, maybe because he’s backed by Oprah and most of Hollywood. They make me worried about him.
I’m not anxious to run out an vote for McCain either. He’s got very vacant eyes. He reminds me, in some ways, to Hilary Clinton. I got a chance to hear her speak and my say, she scared me. It wasn’t about the power she wielded or the fact that she’s aggressive instead it was about her lack of humanity. She didn’t seem like a person of any sort of emotion or likeability. ANYWAY, I digress.
Scary, it’s all very scary to me.
I think we should beg the Brit to take us back. Let’s try to revive the British Empire. I bet we could take Canada, they don’t ever do anything anyway. We’ll just announce it to them, they’ll go for it. I vote for repatriation in 2008. Ooh hey, that’s catchy – repatriate in 08.
Long live the queen.
